At first, she despaired. The picture box showed her the faces of those she knew, reminding her of her failure, and implanting in her mind the terrible notion that they, too, were now trapped in this prison. Then she heard the others talk- a lie, a trick, a trap. There was no Westport, it was all mind games and torment. Apparently a regular occurrence here.
But now there was a road, and those that dismissed the visions of their loved ones were going to find them in Westport. So it was real. Were those visions real, then? Was her failure absolute, and her last act been for naught? Part of her wanted to collapse underneath that growing doubt and admit defeat, but she knew she could not. If her people were there, she would find them. It was her duty to them. If not, then she would simply come away more wise, and that was never an unfavorable outcome.]
